Using a live video feed from her studio, people can talk to her live and see the range of Leica microscopes most popular with jewelers, hand engravers and stone setters.

Tira will show the A60, S7, and S9 microscopes. Attendees will learn about the advantages of Leica’s Fusion Optics™ and how using a microscope can dramatically improve the speed and quality of their work. Even better, people can look through the S9i microscope with Tira on-line. To help understand trinocular microscopes more, Tira will also discuss the differences between the S9i microscope with an integrated camera and the S9D microscope with an external camera.

Registrants with web cams can show Tira their work space and get recommendations about which microscope and stand will work best for them. Sharing benches will also help Tira explain how work habits change when jewelers or engravers first start using microscopes. Changing arm position from shoulder height to elbows at your sides relieves back, neck and shoulder strain. That means microscopes will help improve the quality of your work and make you more comfortable while working.

Using cutting edge technology, jewelers and engravers can talk live to Tira with almost any device. Computers (PC or Mac), tablets or smart phones (iOS or Android) all work. Tira will stream live video tips and tricks for adjusting and using EnSet Compact, Original and Plus machines. Also, participants with a webcam can share video of their bench to clarify questions and get the most out of their EnSet tools. (Android devices and some older iPhones and iPads can't share the participant's webcam feed.)

Going forward, EnSet users who miss this session can catch new ones. Each session will cover the basics of setting up an EnSet, adjusting the hand piece, adjusting settings on the machine, and trouble-shooting issues that customers ask about. We will answer general and individual questions to fix basic problems.

Joel will offer his popular Bead Setting and Fishtail course along with his new Princess Cut and Delicate Stone Setting course. Tira will teach her new Signet Ring class and reprise Shaping Tools for Scrolls and Designs.

Joel and Tira have developed a fresh approach toward teaching specialized techniques in time-saving 2 day weekend courses. Going from “End-to-Beginning”, they focus on a final finish first then move back through engraving and stone setting steps, ending up at design. Similar to spell checking a paper backwards, this teaching method enables students to focus on techniques necessary to achieve the ultimate goal. By the time they discuss design, students have a practical understanding of what elements are necessary to achieve their desired results. They use specially developed CAD rings and teaching materials to guide students through the 2 day intensive courses.

Practical CAD for Professional Jewelers – August 26-27

Using Matrix® as an example, Joel will cover both design and business techniques for incorporating CAD in a modern jeweler’s business. Tira teaches jewelers and engravers how to engrave scrolls and decorative side panels on signet rings. More advanced students will learn stone setting and engraving techniques on the face of the ring.

Christian DeCamillis, the inventor of the EnSet Hand Engraving tool, produced the free videos to introduce jewelers to new time saving techniques for creating intricate settings and patterns.   Engraver.com will expand the offering of videos over time to highlight unique ways jewelers employ engraving in fine jewelry and collectables.
