Introduced at the MJSA Expo and Baselworld 2015, these new Glardon® Beading Tools from Vallorbe are made from the same proprietary chromium steel alloy and hardening techniques Vallorbe uses to make its legendary Swiss files. Combined with a high-gloss and polished calotte, the result is an incredibly durable beading tool that creates beautifully rounded dome-shaped beads.
To show how durable these tools are, Tira used one of these beading tools to create over 400 beads with the same tool in a cold rolled steel plate. The first bead was as clean and bright as the last – and after 400 beads the tool showed no signs of wear!*
These beading tools are also widely used for creative milgrain patterns that weren't possible with older tools.
And for people who work with steel, these tools are tough enough to create beautiful patterns that were only possible with punches in the past.
These beading tools not only will save jewelers money, but they open up all sorts of new uses for backgrounds in engraving designs!

Unable to get a supply of the dot punches I had been using, I tried these as an alternative. They hold up well on softer carbon steel and even stainless. On stainless and harder alloys like 4140 chromoly you will experience some tool failure but at an acceptable level for normal work. I’d highly recommend these tools for readily available dot punch. The price is great.

I don't do much beading and have made do with beading sets which are suitable for precious metals, but wear out or shatter when beading backgrounds on gun steel.
I bought a set of the Glardon Vallorbe tools and have had success beading on a Colt Python with a complex scroll design and much background. The only failures of the tools were do entirely to user error.
I would definitely recommend them and the price is certainly right.
